Think about this. In an effort to save a bit of money, the UK is cutting its pioneering forensics service. This will surely lead directly to more wrongful arrests and fewer genuine convictions while dangerous people escape justice, all for a bit of money. The problem is that the UK has got the money. For example, it’s just pumped £50 billion into the economy in Quantitative Easing. That sounds like money to me.

You may ask why the UK is so adamant about saving money when it has so much of it available. The answer is its credit rating. Just as private lenders want to see austerity measures and pain before they’ll lend to Greece the same principle applies in differing degrees to all borrowers with huge debts and the potential of future default. The UK wants to protect its AAA credit rating so it needs to look like its going through pain in order to impress lenders and credit agencies that it is trying hard.

So the NHS has the Nicholson Challenge to save £20 billion over 4 years while maintaining clinical quality while it is silently privatised but the UK continues spending on all sorts including over £4.5 billion via private companies like Capita, Telereal Trillium, HP and Aspire so they can make profit. Meanwhile, real people face the impact of these values that place money over life with health, education and police effected.

A lot of people in the West are beginning to question the system. Just look at the Occupy movement. The problem is that there is no credible alternative to global free-market Capitalism and secular, liberal democracy yet. This makes the work to make the case for Islamic Governance, political, social and economic even more important. It’s down to the Muslims who are politically-aware. It’s not as if the non-Muslims will make that case themselves.
